11Bachelor of Library & Information Sciences(BLIS)Self FinanceELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: Admission to Bachelor of Library and Information Science Course shall be open to all students who have passed Bachelor examination in the Faculty of Science, Social Science, Humanities and Commerce with minimum 45% of marks or equivalent in the examination conducted by any recognized University established or incorporated by law. DURATION: This course shall be of one academic year duration consisting of two semesters, each semester of six months duration .Semester one will run during July to December, where as semester two will run during January to June every year. NUMBER OF SEATS: Sanctioned seats will be 40 (Forty) each year, subject to approval by the State Government.. SELECTION: The selection of applicants for admission to the Course shall be made strictly according to the merit list prepared on the basis of an open competitive examination followed by counseling(viva-voce). (a) 10% of the total seats shall be reserved for persons working in permanent capacity in library of a college / University department of a recognized University or in a Government managed library. For admission against these seats, employer request to the Registrar of the University shall be required. It is only after the approval of the university, these seats can be filled up. These seats will be treated as over and above the normal sanctioned strength. (b) Reservation to various categories of student shall be provided as per Bihar Government rules.

12Master of Arts (Rural Management & Development)A candidate seeking admissión to M.A. CBCS (Semester System) must be a graduate with Bachelor's Degree preferably with Hons. in the subject concerned. The candidate for admission must have secured at least 45% marks in the graduate level qualifying examination in the subject concerned in any discipline. Admission to the M.A. First Semester Rural Studies (Rural Management and Development) course shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in the Test prescribed for the purpose. The test will comprise of 150 marks in which 100 marks will be exclusively for the written test and 50 marks for the Personal Intervtew. Thus the final selection will be made on the basis of total marks obtained in the written test and personal interview. The test prescribed for the purpose of Written test and Group Discussion or Personal Interview to be conducted at such place and at such time by board constituted by the Vice Chancellor. 13Master of Social Work1. The Post Graduate Degree Programme 'Master of Social Work' in the Faculty of Social Sciences shall be offered by the Patna University in the Department of Sociology under self-financing mode. 2. The Programme shall be of two-years (Four Semester) duration. The Master of Social Work shall be abbreviated as "MSW". 3. Admission to the programme shall be open to candidates who possess graduate degree with Honours in any discipline or equivalent with minimum 45% marks from any recognized University of India. 4. The maximum number of seats for the Master of Social Work Programme shall be limited to 60 (Sixty). 5. The selection of candidates for admission in the Master of Social Work Programme shall be made by the Department of Sociology, Patna University. 6. The selection of the candidates for admission in the MSW Programme shall be made on the basis of written test to be conducted by the Patna University or marks obtained in the Bachelor's Examination as decided by the Academic Council of the University. The duration of the test shall be of two hours. The test will comprise of 100 marks consisting of 100 multiple-choice type questions covering General Knowledge and Current Issues. 7. Seats left unfilled in any of the categories for reserved seats because of the fact that no eligible candidates are available, shall be filled-up by following reservation procedure/rules strictly as per sections of the PU Act, 1976 (Amended up to date). 8. No candidate shall be allowed to register as a student in any other course leading to a Diploma or a Degree during the academic years of his/her study for the MSW programme.

14MA in Journalism & Mass CommunicationA candidate seeking admission to M.J.M.C. (Semester System) must be a graduate having passed the Bachelor Degree with Honours or Master Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or any other subject of any university established or incorporated by law or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks obtained at the Bachelor or Master degree level. Admission to M.J.M.C. Part-I (First Semester), shall be done on the basis of Entrance Test for which applications shall be invited from intending candidates through open advertisement in the news paper(s)/ Patna University website. Admission to M.J.M.C. Part-I (First Semester), shall be done strictly on the basis of the joint marks obtained by the candidates in the Entrance Test and the interview. The bifurcation of marks between the Entrance Test and the interview will be done in a ratio of 80:20 respectively. The eligibility criteria for applying for admission in M.J.M.C. are as follows: Passed the Bachelor Degree with Honours or Master/Higher Degree in Arts/Science/Commerce or any other subject of any university established or incorporated by law or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 45% marks obtained at the Bachelor or Master degree level. 15MA in Music (Self Finance)A candidate seeking admission to M.A. (Semester system) must be a graduate having passed the Bachelor degree (B.A.) with Honours in the subject concerned or as a subsidiary subject or as a subject in pass course or in an allied subjects. Preference will be given to those having passed with the subject as a Honours Subject/ Major Subject/ Core course. In subject where candidates with Honours/ Subsidiary/Pass degree are not available, students having degree in allied subjects may be treated at par as having Honours degree in the subject. For Patna University eighty (80%) of the total sanctioned seats of the subject concerned shall be reserved for the candidates having graduation degree from Patna University and the remaining 20% seats shall be open. Admission to M.A. Part-1 (1st Semester ) shall be made in order of merit. The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicant in the Bachelor Degree course or through Entrance Tests. (i) The applicant must have passed the Bachelor Degree with 45% marks in respective Honours subject/major subject/core course or (ii) passed the Bachelor degree with 55% marks in Subsidiary /Pass Course/Allied Subject. Structure of the entrance test -Questions shall be of multiple choice type with four options with a single correct answer. The entrance test shall be held on OMR sheet . The duration of the test shall be of 2 :30 hour. The total marks will be 200 marks. There shall be no negative marking. There shall be two parts in the question paper as mentioned below:- Part A- General Aptitude Test-50 marks-50 questions-1 mark for each question Part-B-Subject Test-150 marks-75 question-2 marks for each question. A maximum of two seats in the each subject over and above the sanctioned seats shall be filled by applicants who have distinguished themselves in sports. Under this category only those applicants shall be considered who have represented their University/State in differents disciplines at state/national level events. A maximum of two seats in each subjects over and above the sanctioned seats shall be filled by applicants who have distinguished themeselves in Fine Arts.Under this Category only those applicants shall be considered who have represented their University/State in differents disciplines at state/national level events. Two seats shall be reserved for NCC-C Certificate holders.This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strenght of the subject. Reservation for sons/daughters of the respective university teachers will be followed as per provisions of the General Ordinance for Admission to Various Courses received from the Governor's Secretariat, Bihar, Patna vide its letter no.PU18/99-3944/GS(I) dated 28.8.1999.This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strength of the subject. Reservation for sons/daughters of the respective university non-teaching staff will be followed as per provisions of the General Ordinance for Admission to Various Courses received from the Governor's Secretariat, Bihar, Patna vide its letter no.PU18/99-3944/GS(I) dated 28.8.1999. This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strength of the subject. 2% seats of the sanctioned strength in any subjects may be filled with NRI/Foreign students. These seats will be treated as over and above the normal sanctioned strength. NRI candidates under this category shall submit their applications duly recommended by M.E.A. Or M.B.B.S. degree Or B.Tech in Biotechnology Every candidate must have obtained at least 55% marks in aggregate at the graduate level examination. However, this limit is relaxed to 45% for SC, ST and EBC 2. Written aptitude / Entrance Test & Viva-Voce: Admission to the Post Graduate Programme in Biotechnology shall be made on the basis of the marks obtained at the written aptitude/entrance test (100 marks) followed by Viva-Voce (25 marks) conducted by the Department. The merit list for admission will be made on the basis of performance in the written test and viva-voce marks taken together i.e.125 marks. 19Master of Computer Application(MCA)1. Admission to MCA Part-1 (First Semester) (i) Admission to MCA Part-1 (First Semester), shall be made in order of merit. The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicant in the Entrance test. (ii) The Entrance Test will be organised by the Patna University through the Department of Statistics. The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicant in the PUMCAET. 2. Eligibility Criteria The eligibility criterion for applying for admission in MCA Programme is as follows:- (i) Bachelor Hons Degree (B.Sc./B.A.) with at least 45% marks in Computer Applications/Computer Science as Honours subject /major subject core course having passed in Mathematics at Bachelor Degree and 10+2 level. Or (ii) Bachelor degree with 55% marks in Subsidiary/Pass course/Allied subject having passed in Mathematics at Bachelor Degree and 10+2 level. 3. List of Allied subjects: Group A B.Sc./B.A. Hons. Degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/Physics/Electronics with Computer Applications/ Computer Science as a subsidiary subject having passed in Mathematics at Bachelor degree and 10+2 level. Group B B. 20Master of Business Administration(MBA)1. Admission: Admission to MBA first year in Ist semester will be made as per the guidelines prescribed by the AICTE / Academic Council of the Patna University according to latest notification of Governor's Secretariat, Government of Bihar. The Post Graduate Degree 'Master of Business Administration' in the Faculty of Commerce shall be offered by the Patna University. 2. Courses shall be of two-year (Four Semester) duration- The 'Master of Business Administration' shall be abbreviated as MBA. 3. The maximum number of seats for the Master of Business Administration Programme shall be limited to 60 only in addition to Sponsored Seats and Paid Seats. 4. The selection of candidates for admission to MBA Programme shall be made by the Management Programme of the Department of Applied Economics and Commere Patna University. The Head of the Department of Applied Economics & Commerce shall be the Ex-officio Director of the Programme. 5. The Selection of the Candidates for admission to the MBA programme shall be made on merit. The 'Merit List' shall be prepared on the basis of aggregate (i) Composite marks obtained by the candidate at the National Entrance Examination/Test Conducted by MAT (Conducted by AIMA) in the month of February, May, September and December or the Test prescribed for the purpose, from time to time, and valid CMAT Score conducted by AICTE, and (ii) Group Discussion Carrying 100 marks, and (iii) Personal Interview Carrying 100 Marks. Group Discussion and personal Interview shall be conducted at such place and at such time by a Board Constituted by the Vice-chancellor. The MAT Score of September, December month of the immediate previous year and February and May month of the current year of Admission to be MBA Programme shall be considered valid. 6. The 'Merit List' for admission to MBA programme shall be prepared of Candidates who have obtained 45 percent marks at the selection Test as mentioned in clause 5 of the Ordinance above. However, in exceptional circumstances, the above marks may be suitably lowered by the Vice-chancellor. Provided that in case of scheduled caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidates 5 percent marks shall be relaxed in selection test for the preparation of Merit List for admission to MBA programme. 7. The minimum marks required for admission to the 'selection test' conducted for selection of Candidates shall be 45 percent of the aggregate marks at the Degree Level Examination. 8. Any registered student of this University who has passed the Bachelor's Examination in the Faculties of Arts, Humanities, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Labour, Engineering examination or of any other Universities recognized by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto may appear at the 'selection test' as specified in the clause-6 of this ordinances provided he/she fulfills the conditions as laid down in clause-7 above. Provided that applications of graduates having degree from the Faculties other than those specified having satisfactory business experience may also be considered in exceptional cases by the vice-chancellor. 9. Reservation of seats for different categories of candidates shall be made as per rules of the Patna University applicable at the time of admission provided they qualify for, admission to MBA programme as required in clause-8 of this ordinance. 10. Seats left unfilled in any of the categories for reserved seats under clause-9 above by reason of the fact that no eligible candidates are available shall be filled-up by following reservation procedure/Rule strictly as per selection/sections of the P.U. Act, 1976 (Amended up to date). Admission for Sponsored and Paid Seats categories shall be made provided to the candidate/candidates who fulfil the condition as laid down in the clause 5,6,7 and 8 respectively of the ordinance. 11. (a) No applicant shall be admitted who, in the opinion of the Vice-Chancellor,should not be admitted in the best interest of the University. (b) No applicant shall be admitted who has not applied for admission within the notified time, or who, on being selected for admission, does not get himself/herself enrolled within the specified time except when the delay is condoned by the vice-chancellor. 12. Every candidate seeking admission to the programme shall pay fees as may be prescribed from time to time by the University. The fee of the programme shall charged in full at the time of admission to the programme.
