61Master of Science in StatisticsA candidate seeking admission to M.Sc. (Semester system) must be a graduate having passed the Bachelor degree (B.Sc.) with Honours in the subject concerned or as a subsidiary subject or as a subject in pass course or in an allied subjects. Preference will be given to those having passed with the subject as a Honours Subject/ Major Subject/ Core course. In subject where candidates with Honours/ Subsidiary/Pass degree are not available, students having degree in allied subjects may be treated at par as having Honours degree in the subject. For Patna University eighty (80%) of the total sanctioned seats of the subject concerned shall be reserved for the candidates having graduation degree from Patna University and the remaining 20% seats shall be open. Admission to M.Sc. Part-1 (1st Semester ) shall be made in order of merit. The merit list shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the applicant in the Bachelor Degree course or through Entrance Tests. (i) The applicant must have passed the Bachelor Degree with 45% marks in respective Honours subject/major subject/core course or (ii) passed the Bachelor degree with 55% marks in Subsidiary /Pass Course/Allied Subject. Structure of the entrance test -Questions shall be of multiple choice type with four options with a single correct answer. The entrance test shall be held on OMR sheet . The duration of the test shall be of 2 :30 hour. The total marks will be 200 marks. There shall be no negative marking. There shall be two parts in the question paper as mentioned below:- Part A- General Aptitude Test-50 marks-50 questions-1 mark for each question Part-B-Subject Test-150 marks-75 question-2 marks for each question. A maximum of two seats in the each subject over and above the sanctioned seats shall be filled by applicants who have distinguished themselves in sports. Under this category only those applicants shall be considered who have represented their University/State in differents disciplines at state/national level events. A maximum of two seats in each subjects over and above the sanctioned seats shall be filled by applicants who have distinguished themeselves in Fine Arts.Under this Category only those applicants shall be considered who have represented their University/State in differents disciplines at state/national level events. Two seats shall be reserved for NCC-C Certificate holders.This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strenght of the subject. Two seats shall be reserved for NSS Certificate holders representing University/State.This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strenght of the subject. Reservation for sons/daughters/spause of Military Personnel/Defenece Personnel will be followed as per provisions of the General Ordinance for Admission to Various Courses received form the Goverenor's Seceratariate, Bihar, Patna vide its letter no.PU18/99-3944/GS(I) dated 28.08.1999. This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strenght of the subjects. Reservation for sons/daughters of the respective university teachers will be followed as per provisions of the General Ordinance for Admission to Various Courses received from the Governor's Secretariat, Bihar, Patna vide its letter no.PU18/99-3944/GS(I) dated 28.8.1999.This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strength of the subject. Reservation for sons/daughters of the respective university non-teaching staff will be followed as per provisions of the General Ordinance for Admission to Various Courses received from the Governor's Secretariat, Bihar, Patna vide its letter no.PU18/99-3944/GS(I) dated 28.8.1999. This reservation will also be over and above the normal sanctioned strength of the subject. 2% seats of the sanctioned strength in any subjects may be filled with NRI/Foreign students. These seats will be treated as over and above the normal sanctioned strength. NRI candidates under this category shall submit their applications duly recommended by M.E.A. (Ministry of External Affairs) alongwith the copies of the documents showing NRI status.

62Master of Education (M.Ed.)The selection of the candidates for admission to the Master of Education programme (M.Ed.) in regular mode will be made on the basis of merit obtained in M.Ed. Entrance Test to be conducted centrally by the University. To qualify for admission to M.Ed. course, a candidate must obtain minimum of 50% marks at the entrance test held for purpose. Admission shall be made strictly in order of merit i.e. percentage of marks secured by the candidate at the M.Ed. Entrance Test held for the purpose Admission/Allotment of seats shall be done through counseling taking into account the applicants of institution.

63Master of Law (LLM)1. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION: Admission to LL.M. Part-I (Semester I & II ) shall be open to the candidates, having Bachclor's Degree in Law (LL.B Three Years/Five Years Integrated) from a recognized University or possessing such academic qualification as is considered equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Law by the Patna University with at least 50 % marks in the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Three Years/Five Years Integrated) examination for General/EWS candidates or an equivalent grade point in aggregate in the qualifying degree Examination and at least 45% for SC/ST/BC-I/BC-II/PwD or an equivalent grade point in aggregate in the qualifying degree Examination. Appearing candidates in Bachelor's Final Semester Examination of Law (LL.B Three Years/Five Years Integrated) are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Test subject to the condition that their examination results of Bachelor's examination in Law must be published before the date of admission to LL.M. Part-I. Candidate must produce the Final Marks sheet at the time of admission before Admission Committee otherwise their candidature for admission shall not be considered. Admission process shall not be subject to the final result given by the University in case of appearing candidates. LL.M. (Two Year) is a full time course and students seeking admission in this course are required to submit an affidavit stating that they are not engaged in any employment and will study the course on a full time basis. No candidate on the rolls of LL.M. or ex-student of any University shall be allowed to take admission in the LL.M. course unless they get their admission cancelled. Candidate seeking admission to LL.M course shall not be admitted to join any other course in any other University during the course. 2. SELECTION PROCESS: (i). Every candidate will have to secure a minimum of 25% marks out of total marks 400 i.e. 100 marks in the Entrance Test in order to become eligible for consideration of evaluation for the admission to LL.M. Course. In any circumstances, minimum qualifying marks shall be essential for taking admission in LL.M Part-I. (ii) The admission to LL.M. course shall be done on the basis of the merit list prepared as per result of MLET. 3. THE MEDIUM OF ENTRANCE TEST The medium of instructions/questions in Entrance Test shall be in English/Hindi. 4. DURATION OF ENTRANCE TEST The Entrance Test shall be of two hours duration. Duration of Entrance Test may be increased or decreased by the University with previous approval of Academic Council 5. PATTERN OF ENTRANCE TEST The Entrance Test shall comprise of 100 objective types multiple choice questions. Each question will carry 4 marks and 100 questions will carry 400 marks. Questions may be asked from contemporary legal issues. Objective types multiple choice questions shall be asked from the following subjects: Jurisprudence; Constitutional Law of India and Principles of Administrative Law; Family Law (Hindu Law & Muslim Law); Law of Contract (Section 1 to 75 of Indian Contract Act, 1872); Law of Crime (IPC); Transfer of Property Act, 1882; Law of Torts; Environmental Law; International Law; Cyber Law. Provided that the number of subjects mentioned above may be increased or decreased by the University Department of Law with previous approval of Acadcmic Council Patna University as per future development in the area of legal regime and requirment. 6. MERIT LIST: The admissions to Master of Laws ( Two years) are made strictly on the basis of merit in the LL.M. Entrance Test. A merit list (selection list) for admission will be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates. 7. NUMBER OF SEATS : 60 8. WEIGHTAGE TO PATNA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: Giving preference to the students who have obtained LL.B Degree from Patna University, 15 extra marks shall be added to the marks obtained by the students in MLET as weightage marks at the time of making the merit list. No seats shall be reserved for the students of Patna University, Patna. Weightage marks shall be applicable if a candidate obtains qualifying marks. 9. QUOTA SEATS: 03 seats shall be reserved over and above out of sanctioned seats for the following - (i) 01 seat will be reserved for sons/daughters/widow of teacher & 01 seat will be rserved for sons/daughters/widow of non-teaching staff who is in Patna University service. The sons/daughters/widow of the teaching or non-teaching employees retired from Patna University, Patna may be considered for admission if seats are found vacant in this category. Admission against these reserved seats will be taken as per the merit prepared on the basis of MLET. General Fee for Admission will be charged. Remaining 1 seat will be reserved for Military Personnel or sons/daughters/wife of military personnel in active service/Ex service military personnel/Military Personnel martyr or disabled in action. Admission against these reserved seats will be taken as per the merit prepared on the basis of MLET. General Fee for Admission will be charged.
